Grand Ducal Household Administration & Court Marshal's Office
The Grand Ducal Household Administration, also known as the Administration of the Grand Ducal House, is located at the corner of Schloßstraße and Ritterstraße. Opposite Ritterstraße stands the Old Palace. Opposite Schloßstraße stands the Collegiate Building.
Back then
In 1883-1884, architect Rudolf Zöllner was commissioned to build the Court Marshal's Office, where the Court Marshal also managed the Grand Ducal Household Administration. For a time, the newly founded Savings Institution was housed here until its move to its own premises on Lindenstraße. In 1920, the palace was connected to the representative neighboring palace, Hotel du Nord. Since then, the magnificent building complex has housed various financial administrations.
Style
Rising from a five-axis rusticated base floor is a richly decorated central risalit that extends beyond the attic zone. The windows feature alternating round and triangular gable crowns at different levels. The recessed, slate-covered plateau roof with elaborate mansard windows is designed to evoke French Baroque architectural elements. The interior of the Belle Étage is reserved for a splendid hall of classical austerity. Its ceiling is designed as a flat vault overlaid with highly intricate tracery.
