Broken One

A steel statue created by Thomas Lehnigk, 2009

The Earth is not a disk. Here, it consists of many individual pieces. How many exactly, the artist himself doesn't even know. Individual fragments, threatening to break out one by one, dominate this art. It warns: Earth is on the verge of collapse. The source of life. Our mother. Environmental disasters, wars, and famines. The once blue planet has lost its shine.

"The reason for this is humanity's ignorance. If we had the problem on our doorstep, we would do something about it. The issue of plastic pollution is discussed in every generation, but it seems that humanity won't change because of it!" explains Thomas Lehnigk, the significance of the sculpture itself. He clearly appeals for a life in harmony with nature, instead of further endangering it.
