Weststadt • At “Gänseblümchen” – an instituitionen of the Kita gGmbH – cooperation and participation are essential elements of daily life in the daycare. A total of 40 toddlers and 86 kindergarteners are part of the vibrant community in the modern new building on Brahmsstraße, where they actively shape their daily routine. „Gänseblümchen” even has its own children’s parliament and children's councils. Here, topics are discussed collectively, because having and expressing one’s own opinion is important. Through this, children learn to stand up for themselves and others, express their views, and grow through new responsibilities.
Since moving into the new daycare building on Brahmsstraße in 2023, the children have been benefiting from a wide variety of opportunities for play, learning, and discovery. In the children's restaurant, meals are enjoyed in a cozy atmosphere that encourages shared eating and conversation.
The spacious outdoor area offers ample room for movement and exploration—with boulders for balancing, bushes for hiding, and a small garden where herbs, potatoes, tomatoes, and other plants are grown and cared for.
The themed rooms in the building offer additional learning incentives and opportunities to try things out. A special highlight is the nature and technology room, where children can experiment, observe, and work with their hands. The atelier provides plenty of space for creative activities—painting, crafting, and stimulating the imagination.
Warm colors define the entire building, creating a welcoming environment. Outside, there’s always lots of activity, with children riding down the scooter hill or enjoying the diverse playground equipment. The close proximity to Lake Lankow also opens up many possibilities for excursions—to explore, observe, or simply experience nature with all their senses.
There are countless ways for the children to be active and test their skills. Independence and self-responsibility are nurtured, and each child is supported at their own pace. Uniqueness and diversity come together in our daycare. Targeted movement activities such as yoga and various sports are just as much a part of the program as experimenting, exploring, and wandering through nature. The Papilio educational approach, which helps children explore their emotional worlds and strengthen their personalities, is also part of our daily practice. This makes it clear: every child can unfold and develop individually.
