Werdervorstadt • Anyone who enters our daycare of the Kita gGmbH immediately notices the good indoor climate – no wonder, as the natural building materials of wood and clay promote a healthy atmosphere. This first impression continues in the educational concept of the ‘Löwenzahn’ daycare. We are pioneers in sustainability. As one of eight model facilities in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, we participated in the ‘Kita 2030’ project and were certified by the Ministry of Social Affairs.
Since 2022, other facilities can look to the “Löwenzahn” daycare and our sustainability concept as an example. For instance, we practice waste reduction together with the children, look more closely at the origin of food and other goods, and research and explore the world of plants. “Tell me and I forget. Show me and I remember. Let me do it and I understand", is a quote from Confucius – and that’s what we live by in our facility.
The “Löwenzahn” daycare is located in the Werdervorstadt, near Lake Schwerin and Heidensee. With 30 toddlers and 48 kindergarten spots, our facility radiates a cozy atmosphere. In the sun-drenched single-story building, there is just as much to discover as in the spacious outdoor area. The large playground immediately catches your eye. It offers the children everything they could wish for, where their natural urge for movement can be fully expressed. There are plenty of quiet corners for meeting friends, relaxing, and playing ‘unobserved.’ In addition to a variety of trees, shrubs, and play equipment, we particularly highlight our large dandelion. Children can climb it and hide in it, and every child finds new play ideas. All activities are accompanied by a thoughtful structure and many rituals. In summer, for example, we offer a refreshing stream pool outside. A mud party naturally attracts many children and has become a cherished tradition.
