Paulsstadt • Our daycare center of the Kita gGmbH is almost hidden in Rudolf-Breitscheid-Street – and has been for 50 years. It used to be called "Pumuckl," but in August 2020, the little goblin was replaced by a current hero – the dragon "Nandolino." Just as contemporary, our activities for children and parents continue to evolve.
The daycare center, for example, features its own "Nandolino-TV." Here, we show pictures and videos of activities and events, as well as everyday experiences from the daycare. Parents can watch these moments and reflect on the day with their children.
At all of our dragon-strong activities, the Freinet pedagogy is the foundation. Which child wouldn't want to be like Nandolino? – Curious, clever, and determined, the little dragon is a role model. Freinet pedagogy allows children to freely develop their personalities, engage with their environment, take responsibility for themselves, and work well within a community.
Another key focus of our concept is integrated language education in everyday activities. We make language tangible in all its forms. Themed materials and room layouts invite children to engage in conversation and express their individual needs. Of course, our daycare isn't just about talking – it's primarily about experiencing. The 30 toddlers and 50 kindergarten children can participate in various activities in the functional rooms – for example, painting in the creative area, dancing in the movement room, or creatively playing on the construction playground. Additional experiences await the children during outings to the Lankower Hills or when harvesting fruit from the trees in their own protected outdoor area.
