Schelfstadt • Whoever passes by our daycare center "Rappelkiste" of the Kita gGmbH on Münzstraße at the right time, will hear guitar sounds or singing through the windows. Music is part of our concept – even for the youngest children in the nursery, who greet the daycare morning with a rattle. The positive impact of singing on language development should not be underestimated – in addition, older preschool children can even learn English with us.

We live by the motto: "The tone makes the music." This applies not only to our musical concept but also to how children interact with each other and to the pedagogical support in the family-like atmosphere of our daycare. We offer the 21 nursery and 51 preschool children an exciting playground spread across two levels. In our cozy building with three floors, the youngest children are welcomed on the ground floor, while the preschoolers populate the upper hallways. The staircase is turned into a viewing and listening space once a week for "stair singing," to which parents are also invited. Additionally, musicians from the Art and Music School ATARAXIA visit us, and every year we rehearse a performance with the children in a playful way.

For the youngest ones, we also have something special: they take their afternoon nap outdoors. Cosily tucked into their own prams – and in winter, wrapped up warmly – the fresh air is ideal for promoting health.

In the final year before the children start school, we work closely with the Heine Elementary School. In addition, numerous excursions enrich our daily life at the daycare – for example, for creative expression in the art studio or for energetic fun in the sports room of the “Heine-Kids” after-school program. We also organize visits to the library or the theater. We are happy to involve parents in these activities – they also have the opportunity to help shape a special event during our “Living Advent Calendar” in December, giving them a chance to experience what usually remains hidden from them while they’re at work.
