“Märchenkita”

Explore with all your senses

Krebsförden • Do you know the “Märchenkita” daycare of the Kita gGmbH in Schwerin? A magical place where your children can grow until they start school: If you think that here, we only open storybooks and read aloud all the time, you're mistaken. The "Fairytale Daycare," newly renovated in 2023 by the Kita gGmbH, does so much more. The children learn rhymes, finger plays, singing and dancing games, and explore everything around them with all their senses.

In one of the various themed rooms, for example, a light orb creates fascinating effects for the eyes. The atelier rooms are open to all creative crafters and painters. Here, the children have the opportunity to create costumes, backdrops, or other artworks with various materials. In the theater and music room, there’s a large stage with plenty of props where well-known and imagined fairytales come to life, and both children and adults can dress up and slip into their favorite roles.

Furthermore, the children experiment with smells and tastes: in our fairytale-like outdoor area, there are fruit trees and herbs. The children make tea from them or snack on cherries and apples. If Snow White comes to mind at this point, you are on the right track, as fairytales play a role in our daycare, but the children's experiences and learning stories go beyond just attentive listening. The children craft a magic mirror, compete against each other by blowing cotton snowflakes like in "Mother Holle," or bake "Frog King muffins" in the children's kitchen. Fine motor skills are needed when sorting peas and lentils from the fairytale "Cinderella." Throughout the day, your children can freely choose which area of our castle they want to be in and what they want to play. Everyday experiences lead to new stories and wonderful creative ideas, where the children continue to develop and grow. And we, as educators, are fortunate enough to learn from the children every day, in fairytale speed, and accompany them in their development.
