The club SV Grün-Weiß Schwerin was founded in 1990 as a sports club and has since offered a wide range of sports for Schwerin. Currently, over 600 members are training in the club. The different sections range from handball to badminton. To further expand the sports offer, the club has also added basketball since June 2023. SV Grün-Weiß Schwerin sees basketball as a growing market with good potential. Both girls and boys of different ages have the opportunity to continuously develop themselves through regular training.
For several years now, SV Grün-Weiß Schwerin has stood out, particularly due to its success in women's handball. Currently, the first women's team plays in the third handball league. The club is especially known for its youth work. For many years, the focus has been on continuous work in youth development. During their training, youth players eventually also have the opportunity to participate in training with the first women's team and thus further develop themselves athletically. This is reflected in numerous successes, titles, and the club's development. Almost every year, youth players compete in the youth league, with the B youth team achieving the runner-up title in 2019, the A youth team winning the DHB Cup in 2024, and the first team also achieving very good positions in the third league. The good youth work is also evident in the squad of the first women's team. Many female handball players have learned to play handball in the club.
Therefore, the club is characterized above all by cohesion and mutual support. Whether recreational or competitive sports, SV Grün-Weiß Schwerin offers a very good point of contact for sports enthusiasts of all ages.
